To raise awareness of women’s health and hygiene programs, especially menstrual health management, NMDC is providing 20 health pad machines to women’s self-help groups in Chhattisgarh & Karnataka in collaboration with the respective state governments. Mr. Dwayne Bravo, former West Indies Cricket team captain, will join the cause through a documentary film called “Men Take Lead” to raise awareness among women and young girls against poor menstrual hygiene practices in the tribal areas of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region.
NMDC is also affiliated with Padmashri Arunachalam Muruganantham, the inventor of low-cost sanitary pad machinery, popularly known as’ Padman.’ Therefore, the project will be useful for women in Chhattisgarh to earn a living by making sanitary napkins.
Expressing his delight in being associated with NMDC for this great cause, Mr. Bravo said, “There is a great need for awareness among women in rural communities to help them get out and talk about their discomfort. The use of sanitary napkins will improve the life of a woman and protect her from various diseases, so having the support of a prestigious organization like NMDC will increase the effect of what we are trying to accomplish. “Mr. Bravo has been working for this cause in his country, West Indies, for many years and is now proud to be part of this cause in India.
